How Long Do Shake Shack Promo Codes Last?

There’s no single answer, because every promotion sets its own dates. Looking at the recent ones, they fall into a few patterns:

One week. Father’s Day style promos are short. DADMODE ran for a single week, and the December 2025 free-sandwich promo switched to a different featured sandwich every week or so.

A full season. Chicken Sundays is the long runner. It has covered months at a time, and it keeps coming back.
Around three months. FAVESHAKE ran from late March to late June in 2024.

One detail that catches people: the terms say an order must be fulfilled during the promotion period, not just placed. If you schedule a pickup for the day after a promo ends, the code can fail even though you ordered on time.

What the Official Terms Usually Say

Most promotions follow the same rules, so it’s worth knowing them before you order:

Orders must go through a kiosk in the restaurant, the Shack App, or shakeshack.com.
A $10 minimum usually applies, not counting the free item, taxes, fees, or gift card purchases.
It’s one free item per order, and paid add-ons like bacon or avocado are excluded.
Airports, stadiums, arenas, travel plazas and museums are excluded.

Where to Buy Official Shake Shack Gift Cards

Gift cards are sold in three official places: the gift card purchase page, the Shack App, and participating restaurants. Buying direct matters because Shake Shack’s holiday gift card bonus applied only to purchases through its own channels, not third-party resellers.

The latest example ran from November 13 to December 25, 2025. For every $25 in gift cards bought in a single order, the buyer received a $5 bonus. Online and app purchases came back as $5 e-gift cards, and restaurant purchases came as paper vouchers. That promotion has ended. A similar one may return during the holidays, so check again in mid-November.

How to Check Your Gift Card Balance

Use the official gift card balance page, or ask a team member to check it at the register. You’ll need the card number and PIN. Keep both private, and avoid any site that asks for more than that.

Some sites mention a Wednesday deal or a Friday free-fries day. I couldn’t find either on Shake Shack’s official offers page, so I wouldn’t plan an order around them.

Menu-Specific Deals: Hot Dogs and Chicken Sandwiches

Chicken Sundays is the main chicken promotion. For hot dogs, the last one I found was a summer bundle with the code SUMMERDOG: a classic hot dog, fries or lemonade for $7. It has expired. There’s also an in-restaurant version. Some college basketball partnerships give a free single ShackBurger the day after a home game when a trigger is hit, such as a team reaching a target in the game. I couldn’t find an official nationwide student discount in the US. Sites that list one often mean UK programs like UNiDAYS, which don’t apply here. There’s no standing military or first responder discount either, though Shake Shack has given free Big Shacks to active military and veterans on Veterans Day with a valid ID. Check the app each November.

For healthcare workers and teachers, the discounts you’ll see on coupon sites aren’t backed by anything official.

Credit Card & Carrier Offers
